A short photo essay: Bruce’s Mill

by Woodrow Walden

As a child my father would drag my brother and I up to Bruce’s Mill Conservation Area in the fall to take a family portrait sitting on one particular tree stump. That tree stump is long gone now, but in the last couple of years, I decided to continue the tradition with Sam and Harry although on a different tree stump.

After finally getting a couple of shots that I was happy with, we went for a hike through the forest. The nice thing about Bruce’s Mill is that they have a boardwalk system that takes you though the forest and keeps your feet dry and mud free!

There are also areas of just the plain old forest floor where you can have a chance to get your feet as muddy as you want
